General Festival Rules
Submit your film online in the following resolution 1080p via Google drive, YouTube, Vimeo or Youku (China)
Submission form must be completed with full name, email, school address. Incomplete information will cause your project to be removed from consideration.
Contact information and email of a guardian or teacher is required for all films.
Follow all instructions and rules. Fill out forms completely and accurately. Make sure that you provide any passwords needed for the selection committee viewing.
Adult supervision is permitted but film content should be conceived and produced as independently as possible by student filmmakers. *Shortlisted filmmakers will be asked to complete and submit written acknowledgment signed by a teacher or lecturer.
The AAYFF is a family event therefore, no entries may contain excessive violence, profanity or nudity.
Multiple submissions are allowed but must be entered individually.
Students may submit films that are made within school, during after school activities or in their own time with friends from out of school.
You will be notified if your film has been accepted and has a scheduled screening time. AAYFF organisers will make final decisions on screening.
Entries welcome from individuals, groups, and classrooms but an individual representative must provide contact details on behalf of the group.
Only one prize will be awarded for a category-winning film and will be awarded to the individual representative stated in Rule 10. The AAYFF does not take any responsibility for how prizes are distributed amongst groups, classes or other contributors to a film entry (if applicable).
All film submissions should be original with language and themes appropriate for elementary school children as outlined by the Bbfc http://www.bbfc.co.uk/what-classification/pg
Films SHOULD NOT USE COPYRIGHTED MUSIC or FOOTAGE unless they have the permission of the copyright holder. Use original or royalty free music which is freely available from a number of sites in the AAYFF useful resources section.
Films should include credits listing the title, music credits, and other contributors. If preferred, students may choose to use first names only in film credits.
If shortlisted for the AAYFF Screening, a talent release form must be submitted (an example of which can be downloaded in the useful resources section)
Films must be made within the definition of Asia accepted by the United Nations, which includes Central Asia, Eastern Asia, Southern Asia, SouthEast Asia and Western Asia.
The AAYFF reserves the right to reject any submission.
The AAYFF reserves the right to change and/or remove any prize category before or during the annual Screening.
